“can we as a society just generally move away from the idea that it is better to bear with an illness than to take medicine that could help?”

okay to all of the people making the same comment on my post, I understand that not everyone has access to healthcare.

I know that in this country and many others you have to have money to be treated by doctors, and even then the amount you have determines the level of care.

I know that many disabled people are poor because they are unable to work. I know that this effects how often they see their doctors because of money issues, and then it effects their condition, and the cycle continues.

I know all of these things and have experienced them. In my post I use the word “generally” intentionally. In general our society needs to be more open minded when it comes to people having to take medications (or choosing to take them, even for conditions that you personally don’t deem worthy of medication).

As more medications are developed that help with certain symptoms or conditions, more people will be taking medicine. We live in a really awesome time for medical science and it shows!! People should be mindful of medications, of course, but that doesn’t mean they should shun them either. I am alive because of the medications I have been put on in the past. I am alive because of my medicine now. Please don’t try to make me feel ashamed of that.

Have you ever wondered
how i fell in love with you?
If you saw yourself through my eyes
then you would
fall in love with yourself too.

I want a soft sort of romance where we’re best friends who share an apartment and also happen to kiss and be in love and hold hands in public. We both know we’re the other’s world and we talk about our feelings (and how annoying it is when you leave your bowl in the sink. Can you please wash it? For me?) We go everywhere together. Which isn’t strictly true, but it sometimes seems that way to our friends. We take weekend trips to Toronto or Chicago or Lake Michigan and we don’t have to worry about money. Our friends come over to watch our cat when we’re gone and to make dinner with us when we’re home. We have everything we need right there in that city, in that apartment, and especially in those people.
